Will linens/towels be provided?
Yes, we provide all bedding, pillows, linens, bath towels and tea towels. For exterior use (sun bathing on the deck or at the beach), we ask that you bring your own beach towels.
Will we need to bring dishes and cutlery?
No we provide everything you need in the kitchen including several consumables consistent with normal use such as: dish washer detergent, dish soap, plastic wrap and foil, garbage bags, coffee filters, paper towels, facial tissue, toilet paper, etc. Lulu’s Repose has a large and very well stocked kitchen and pantry and you will find numerous place settings, glassware (including wine glasses), and serving dishes.
Is there a shallow area for young children to swim in – what’s the waterfront like?
Yes, there is a sand beach area that is great for kids and walk-in swimmers. The waterfront is a fairly gradual slope to greater depths. Off the end of the dock the water is around 7 – 8 feet deep (depending on the level of the lake) and is perfect for diving in. The sand beach is about 35’ long and is adjacent to the dock. The rest of Lulu’s shoreline has been left undisturbed.
Should we bring our food up with us or buy it up there?
There are grocery stores in Parry Sound, Burk’s Falls, and Sundridge. The Sobey’s in Parry Sound is particularly well stocked with most things you’d find at home. However, if there is a particular brand or food that you can’t do without, we recommend that you bring that with you. With the increased popularity of this area as a vacation destination, we have seen an incredible expansion in the choices available.
What's the maximum number of people you can accommodate?
Unless otherwise agreed to with the agent we try and limit the number of overnight guests to the bedrooms and beds available. We recommend no more than 14 overnight guests where no more than 10 would be adults. Please see the Accommodations page of the website for more information.
Can we have other guests too?
Additional day guest can be invited but we request you advise the rental agent prior to completing the contract providing the number of guest and the days visiting. Typically, we request guests depart before 12:00 a.m.
How private is it?
Lulu’s Repose is extremely private and sits on 7 acres of hardwood forest. There are no cottages directly across the water from Lulu’s, so your views and privacy are protected. Also, Lulu’s Repose is the last residence on a private road supporting only three cottages.
Do you have a washer and dryer?
Yes. Again, we supply a reasonable amount of detergent and fabric softener for our guests convenience.
Can we bring our pet?
Lulu’s Repose has a no pets policy. However, depending on circumstances, and previous agreement from the rental agent, some pets may be allowed. This is at the full discretion of the owner and the agent.
Can we smoke in the cottage?
No, we request that smokers move outside to indulge. Also, we request that guests help us keep the property clean and remove all refuse from smoking.
Do we have to clean up?
We expect that you will leave the house and property in good condition and tidied up (sweep clean, remove all garbage), and that you will treat it with respect during your stay. We have a service staff that professionally cleans the cottage between stays, but we expect that the cottage is left neat with no movement of furniture or other amenities.
Is the water safe to drink?
The water in our cottage comes from a 250’ drilled well and is subsequently filtered by a state-of-the-art filtration system.
Are there phones or internet access?
There is no telephone service available at the cottage. There is satellite wireless internet provided for your convenience. Please see our policies on usage and for password access.
Where is the nearest place to buy beer, liquor, or food?
The closest beer and liquor store is approximately 10 minutes from the cottage in the village of Dunchurch.
What if there is a Power outage?
If the power goes out, there is an automatic back-up generator that kicks in until the main power comes back on at which time the generator will automatically shut off.
What do we do with our garbage?
There are three garbage pails in which you can place your full garbage or recycling bags until you are ready to take them to the dump. The dump is no more than a 10 minute drive from the cottage and schedules and locations are available with the Cottage Guide provided to guests. Unless otherwise arranged through our concierge service and with the agent, all garbage and recyclables must be removed when you depart.
What about parking?
There is Parking for at least 5 cars in front of the cottage. There is also additional parking further up the driveway.
Can we have a camp fire?
There is a camp fire pit and split wood is provided for your consumption. Fires are allowed but it is the guests responsibility to check with the local fire department to ensure there are no fire bans in force. More information is available in the Cottage Guide.
Do you provide watercraft?
Lulu’s Repose provides a canoe, pedal boat, and paddleboard, but not power watercraft. Many local marinas and outfitters’ stores do rent fishing and other power boats (this can be arranged through our concierge service if desired). If a watercraft is rented, it is your responsibility to ensure that all rules, laws, regulations and safe boating practices are followed. For more information on boating regulations and safety call the Canadian Coast Guard at 1-800-267-6687 or visit their website. If you will be boating on your vacation, you will need a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. It's the law and law enforcement are handing out fines starting at $250. Get your card at BoaterExam.com
Can we check in before 4:00 p.m. on the day of our arrival and leave later than 11:00 on departure day?
Generally in the summer the answer is “no”. Our cleaning staff requires this time to prepare for incoming guests. With off-prime season rentals arrival and departure times may be negotiable. Talk to the rental agent to arrange.
If we’re staying in the winter do we need to worry about access to the cottage?
The municipal road leading to Lulu’s Repose and the private cottage lane are both plowed regularly in the winter. If visiting us in the winter please note that while you do not require a 4-wheel drive vehicle, snow tires are recommended. Please see our policies for winter guests.
Can winter guests skate on the lake?
Obviously, this depends on the weather and when in the season you’re visiting. Lulu’s Repose attempts to have a cleared skating rink available to guests in the winter, but this is subject to conditions. Please contact the agent for more information.
Can we come and see the property prior to renting?
Visits to the property to preview are generally welcomed. However, we want to ensure that we respect our guests privacy, so please contact us to make arrangements to visit.
