Canoe / Kayak / Paddle Boarding / Windsurfing

Take one of Lulu’s canoes, paddleboats, or stand-up paddleboards out onto beautiful Ahmic lake. The Harbour is a great place for a quiet paddle and for younger children to experience the water while not venturing into the larger part of the lake. There are many miles of shoreline to discover and much of nature to witness. Also, at Lulu’s Repose there is usually a very brisk breeze that comes in from the NW, making our location ideal for wind surfers and sailors alike.

Volleyball & Horseshoes

A great way to get the whole gang out and active is a challenging game of sand Volleyball. We have recently added a regulation size sand volleyball court to the list of Lulu’s Repose amenities. Complete with net and balls, all you need to do is add the sunshine and players. Great fun for the whole family! Likewise, who hasn’t been caught-up in a super-competitive round of horseshoes?! At Lulu’s Repose we have also recently added a horseshoe pit so you can issue the challenge to your friends and family – see who is crowned champion of the pit at the end of your stay!

Biking

Whether you prefer a marathon 40 mile road trip, a quiet pedal along a meandering country road, or the challenge of a cross country trail, Lulu’s Repose offers the cyclists in your group several options. Take the Ahmic Lake Discovery Route for an invigorating ride or, try any of the other wonderful trails that are part of the Trans Canada Trail System.

Swimming

Ahmic Lake has long been known as a swimmer’s lake. In fact, there are two camps on the lake dedicated to the development of competitive swimmers:  Chikopi, the boys’ camp and Ak-O-Mak, the girls’ camp. Chikopi was the world's first competitive swim camp. The two camps are directly across the lake from each other. Ahmic Lake is an ideal lake for the two swim camps due to the clear water and a size that allows for training of marathon swimmers. In fact, Marty Sinn, the world-class marathon swimmer was trained at Ak-O-Mak.
Lulu’s repose offers a great opportunity for both the novice and advanced swimmer with either walk-in shallow water access from the sand beach or deeper water diving from the end of the dock.

Fishing

Bring your boat with you and explore all the fishing our interconnected lakes offer . The lakes Ahmic, Cecebe, Neighick, and Crawford that are directly accessible via boat from Lulu’s dock have several species of game fish including; Yellow Pickerel, Blue Pickerel (rumoured), Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass (introduced species that has naturalized in Crawford lake), Northern Pike, Lake Whitefish, and Yellow Perch. Come fish trophy walleye in Ahmic Lake or fish right off Lulu’s dock for small mouth bass.

You can explore the lakes yourself and find your own special spot for the really big one, or, if immediate results are your preference, there are guide services available on the lake. No boat? – No problem. You can rent a boat for a day or a week from any of a number of marinas or outfitters in the area.

Water Sports: Waterskiing, Wakeboarding & Tubing

Bring your power boat or rent one from one of the marinas on the lake and experience hours of excitement waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. The size, water quality and relative quiet of Ahmic Lake make it the ideal location for enjoying your summer on the water. Lulu’s Repose is located in Ahmic Harbour which is sheltered from much of the weather on the larger part of the lake making it the ideal place for that evening ski where the water is like glass. The larger part of the lake is ideal for wakeboarding and tubing allowing for miles of uninterrupted fun. For its size, Ahmic Lake has relatively little boat traffic and offers the perfect playground for all your watersports.

Boating: Sailing, Power Boating & Personal Water Craft

Whether under the power of a motor or using the wind to move you along, Ahmic Lake and the other connected lakes of Lulu’s repose offer over 40 miles of boating pleasure. All of the lakes in this watershed are well marked for navigation presenting few hazards and miles of uninterrupted boating.
The town of Magnetawan is located on the river between Lake Cecebe and Ahmic Lake. Locks were built here on the river to allow steamboats to travel further down the river from the railway station at Burk's Falls. The locks officially opened on July 8, 1886 and are still in use today. The locks are in operation during the summer months, but call ahead to reserve your timeslot.
