Inside the Cottage

Opening the front door of the cottage you find yourself standing in the foyer staring at an incredible view of the lake through 23’ floor to ceiling Great Room windows. The view from the foyer is breath taking and draws you further into the interior of the cottage. As you move from the foyer into the Great Room and beyond you’ll find on the Main Floor Level:

As you enter the Great Room from the Front Foyer, your attention is drawn from the 23’ floor-to-ceiling windowsoverlooking the lake to the 10’ wide granite, Rumford, wood burning fireplace. The fireplace anchors the Great Room at one end with seating for 8 - 10 arranged to take advantage of both the views and the warmth of the room. This is a great place to cozy up beside the fire with a book and a hot drink on a winter’s day occasionally looking out at the gently falling snow and icy lake beyond.

To one side of the fireplace is a door leading to the Media Room. Here you’ll find the entertainment system which consists of a home theatre and separate speakers mounted in the Great Room so you can listen to your favourite music. The stereo sound system has two sources: iPod (MP3) or CD. The CD player is a 5 disk changer, so you can load it up and let it run, or bring your iPod and hook it up to listen to your favourite music. The home theatre and entertainment centre consists of a 65” Sony 4k Ultra High Definition television and Sony PS3 which can be used for DVD playback (both conventional and Blu-ray) or gaming. The cottage has many DVD titles for your enjoyment; however, you must bring your own PS3 compatible games.

At the other end of the cottage is the Dining Room which provides fantastic views of both the lake and the fireplace in the Great Room. Here you’ll find an extra-large harvest table with two additional expansion leaves and comfortable chairs to accommodate 12 diners. On one wall of the Dining Room are a set of sliding patio doors that lead out to the upper deck and on the other wall is an identical set of doors leading to the Muskoka Room.

The Muskoka Room is a completely screened-in sanctuary from all manner of pesky summertime bugs that has a door opening onto the upper deck. Due to its elevation, relaxing in this room feels like you’re in a tree house looking out over the lake below. The Muskoka room is approximately 23’ X 16’ and has seating for 8 – 10 with large rattan chairs and a couch which can be used for afternoon naps. The breeze always seems to be blowing through the leaves in the trees and the elevation provides a cool place to savour your morning coffee or relax with drink while engaging in some great conversation with friends, family, or colleagues. As you exit the Muskoka Room through the screen door onto the upper deck, you’ll find the BBQ and Smoker conveniently located close by.

Second Floor

As you make your way from the Billiards Loft and travel the wide walkway towards the Tom Thomson Bedroom you’ll be transfixed by the view to the lake. The elevation of 50’ above the lake allows you to get a better panoramic view of the harbor and the channel beyond.  Entering the Tom Thomson Bedroom you’re immediately greeted by a spectacular view of the forest through the floor to ceiling windows. With the bedroom door open it’s hard to decide which way to look – out to the forest that surrounds the cottage or towards the harbor and channel beyond. This bedroom has a queen size bed and high, cathedral ceilings, and wide pine plank floors.

Further down the hall at the end of the cottage opposite the Billiards Loft is the Lawren Harris Bedroom.  This bedroom is larger than the Thomson bedroom and has a good sized closet at one end of the room. As with almost every room in Lulu’s Repose, the views to the property are captivating; and the view to the lake from the Lawren Harris Bedroom is no exception. This bedroom is also furnished with a queen sized bed with the same cathedral ceiling and wide, pine plank floors as its neighbor down the hall.

Immediately across from the Harris bedroom is the Upper Level Bathroom. This bathroom shares the same panoramic views of the surrounding forest as the Thomson bedroom and is anchored on the window wall by an elevated 6’ soaker tub. The Upper Level Bathroom has a large, walk-in shower which is finished, like the rest of the room, in white, marble tile. Here too you will find high, cathedral ceilings and exposed, massive timber framing members.

Walk-Out Level

As you make your way from the front foyer towards the kitchen there is a staircase that leads down to the Walk-out level.  Taking advantage of the natural slope of the lot the cottage has been constructed so that living on this level still provides for great views of the lake and direct access to the grounds from a couple of different egress points. Rooms are still flooded with sunshine during the day and opening any of the numerous windows throughout this level allows for the breezes off the lake to refresh the space. On the Walk-out Level you’ll find:

With a great view to the lake, the Frederick Varley Bedroom is the larger of the two bedrooms on this level. This bedroom is furnished with both a Queen Sized bed and a “full-over-full” set of bunk beds. Each of the bunks in the bunk bed is a full double bed size and can accommodate 2 small children or one larger child. The Frederick Varley Bedroom faces out towards the lake with great views through over-sized windows along one wall.

A set of sliding patio doors in the Franklin Carmichael Bedroom provides easy access to the lower level deck. This bedroom is also full of light with glass patio door on one wall and windows on another. The Franklin Carmichael Bedroom is also furnished with a Queen Sized bed and electric fireplace to keep cozy during those cold autumn and winter evenings.

Right beside the Carmichael bedroom is the Walk-Out Level Bathroom. This 3 piece bathroom is equipped with a very large walk-in shower and pedestal sink.

Also on the walkout level is the Laundry Room complete with front-loading washing machine, electric dryer, laundry tub, and second “Beer Fridge. There is a Mudroom off the Laundry Room with direct access to the lower deck and the granite stairs leading to the beach. The Kids’ Recreation Room completes the walk-out level and is equipped with large, comfortable couches and chairs, a separate television and DVD unit PLUS a PS3 games console. This area gives the children a place to hang-out on rainy days while allowing parents to still have access to separate programming upstairs.
